SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

Nikki Marie Barron

I'm a data-driven, strategic, creative thinker with nearly 20 years of experience who puts her skills to work helping organizations and individuals build and engage with their target audiences in an authentic way. Whether it is generating sales, building a following, or pushing a movement forward, I believe we can accomplish your goals through a personalized communications and outreach plan that focuses on building a real relationship with your audience.

I am also a visual artist working in digital mediums, including graphic design, video, and photography. These skills help me generate meaningful content that creates the desired outcome of my campaigns.

My current full-time position is as the Communications and Outreach Manager at SMASH, a nonprofit that helps musicians access free and low-cost healthcare. Previously I have worked as the  Marketing Manager at The Crocodile, a legacy Seattle Music venue, Mastin Labs, a software company that produces lightroom plugins, Converge Media, a black-owned media company, I Heart Media, and more.

Through my brand, kittenteeth, I offer communications and business strategy, content creation with strategic content distribution, mindset, and accountability coaching. I know pairing a good strategy with a sustainable approach generates strong outcomes that last. This is only possible if we create and execute in a way aligned with all your goals, not just your financial ones.

Both through my work and philanthropy, I am invested in helping people find self-actualization through their passions and generating financial sustainability. My life's work is to contribute to rebuilding a strong working class of artists, entrepreneurs, and creators.

When I am not working at SMASH or with my freelance clients, I am the founder of the Papercut, a group based in the Northwest with over 900 active members for women in music and those who have experienced misogyny in music. We work to make our industry a more equitable space for all. I am also the co-founder of The Artistic Reclamation Movement, also known as The ARM. At The ARM, we work to reclaim the artist industry to serve the creators first, shift the culture at large to respect the contributions of creative professionals and build up an artistic middle class.

PROFESSIONAL RECOMMENDATION

Chad Syme

Companies survive by their marketing, and brands can not exist without it; simply put, businesses don't survive without people like Nikki. I worked with Nikki at Mastin Labs, providing creative support for her role as head of marketing. From her first day, Nikki's presence was transformative for the company. She came in with ardent leadership, focus, and a work ethic and capacity for tasks I've never seen before - leading the company forward to yearly revenue growth and the rise to a leading brand in its market.

Finding new ways to bring people together, she fostered Mastin Labs' mission to educate and empower the global photography community.

I hold great admiration for all she does and accomplishes outside of work; she champions the underrepresented, helps artists to be heard and seen, and offers guidance to others in many ways. The scope of her character amplifies her work, inspires compassion, and brings a wonderfully social environment to the workplace.

“Nikki of Kittenteeth has been such an incredible asset to me and my business. She is extremely talented listener; I love the way she gathers all the pertinent information on my upcoming projects before she helps me move them forward… I have referred so many people to Nikki and all of them have been just as impressed as I have.”
